On the “2nd Friday every month” MGS is the perfect venue to chill out to watch some movies! You can´t find these movies in the local cinemas. We have a selection of German movies: comedy, romance, thriller and etc. In our selection, you can find something for everybody.
For the Germans, it is nice to watch a movie in your own language and for the German Languange Class students, it is a good way to practice their German Language, most of the movies have English subtitles.

Schindler´s Liste
On: Friday, 12th of March at 8:30 p.m.
The true story of Oskar Schindler, a vainglorious and greedy German businessman who becomes unlikely humanitarian amid the barbaric Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for Jews. He managed to save about 1100 Jews from being gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Yella:
On: Friday, 9th of April at 8:30 p.m.
Yella wants to escape her life. After the brake-up with her boyfriend Ben and the failure of her business Yella moves to Hannover.
Bens last attempt to convince Yella ends in an almost catastrophe: their car fell into a river...
Der Tunnel:
On: Friday, 7th of May at 8:30 p.m.
Based on a true story a group of East Berliners escaping to the West. Harry Melchior was a champion East German swimmer at odds with the system under which he has already been imprisoned. On his own escape, he is determined the arrange the escape to the West of his sister and her family. The idea of the tunnel is born, but the project does not run smoothly. The participants struggle not only with the massive logistics of their task, but betrayal from friends in the East. And always the East German police are close to discovering the plot.
Halbe Treppe:
On: Friday, 11th of June at 8:30 p.m.
Two pairs, each married for quite a long time, are living in a small east German town. The film focuses on the relationships between each of the four people and what happens when an affair takes place between two of them who are not married to each other and logically betraying the two remaining characters. This event leads to deep thoughts about marriage, friendship, relationships and last not least life itself.
John Rabe:
On: Friday, 9th of July at 8:30 p.m.
The true story of John Rabe, director of Siemens Nanking (Chinese capital at that time), who used his Nazi Party membership to construct a safety zone together with other expatriates and saved over 200,000 Chinese from the massacres by the invading Japanese army in 1937.
Jenseits der Stille:
On: Friday, 13th of August at 8:30 p.m.
Lara's parents are deaf and she interprets for them when they intereact with the hearing world. Her aunt Clarissa, keen to music, gives her a clarinet and Lara begins to discover the world of music, which is completely unknown for her parents. She becomes a talented clarinettist and when she is 18 years old, she wants to enroll in Berlin's conservatory. This conflicts with her father's dependence and his grief after his wife's death.
